Opinion of the Court.

The Court is of the opinion:-

"A"

With regard to the man shot,

1. That he was shot while attempting to escape.

2. That he was warned as adequately as possible to

desist from his attempt.

3. That he continued his attempt.

4. That the sentry was justified in firing.

5. That the stoning of the sentry was an attempt on the part of the friends of the escapee to assist him. 6. That the orders regarding escaping and its conse-

quences had been explained to the internees.

"B" With regard to the man bayonetted.

1. That a state of mutiny existed in the camp at the

time.

2. That if action had not been taken by the troops

discipline would not have been restored.

3. That when called out on a duty such as this the

soldier Rattan Singh was justified in his action

to safeguard his arms.
